Gabrielle Montalvo, CRNP

Gabrielle Montalvo has specialized in Pain Management since joining Independence Pain Associates in September 2019.

Gabrielle earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Pennsylvania in 1997 with a HUP scholarship. Her first nursing job was on an orthopedic trauma unit at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. This provided Gabrielle with a strong foundation of providing care to diverse patients facing life changing events that often resulted from motor vehicle accidents, falls, gunshot wounds and other trauma requiring multiple surgeries. Gabrielle’s other work experiences as a nurse include assisting a Mohs surgeon to treat skin cancer, working in home care, and working in the TCU and hospice unit at Holy Redeemer Hospital. Gabrielle pursued her master’s degree in nursing at La Salle University and graduated as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2004.

In 2005, Gabrielle joined Thomas Jefferson University Hospital working in the Patient Testing Center as an NP where she gained experience taking histories, performing physical exams, interpreting EKGs, providing patient education and communicating any concerns with the surgical & anesthesia team. Gabrielle continued to work for Jefferson Hospital until 2019 when she felt a calling to work in an outpatient practice where she could be part of a team providing quality care for patients in chronic pain.

Gabrielle believes it is important to establish a connection with each patient where they feel their questions and concerns are addressed, and that they are involved in their own patient care. Chronic
pain can be challenging for patients, and part of Gabrielle’s goal is to help each patient through their journey by working toward their goals and helping to provide a better quality of life.

Outside of work, Gabrielle enjoys spending time with her husband and 4 children. Gabrielle enjoys taking bike rides and walks in the park with her family, baking, exercising, and spending family vacations at Hershey Park and Ocean City. Gabrielle’s happy place is the beach, and she loves to laugh and play games with her children. Gabrielle is passionate about spending quality time with children because she wants to help them build a bright future.
